Why Helm Cards Work

These aren't quick reference cards or checklists you flip through hoping the answer jumps out. Helm Cards are decision tools, built to guide you through uncertainty when you're not sure what to do next.

Anchoring

Struggling to get the anchor set? Pull the Anchoring deck to slow down, assess conditions, and choose your next move calmly.

Weather

Weather building faster than expected? Pull the Weather deck and decide your next move with confidence.

Navigation

GPS acting up? Pull the Navigation deck and regain clarity before small confusion becomes a real problem.

Stress breaks good judgment, even for experienced boaters. Helm Cards are built around the exact moments when uncertainty creeps in, while you still have time to make the right call.

Printed on heavy-duty PVC, Helm Cards are waterproof, durable, and built to live at the helm. No apps. No signal. No screens. Just clear guidance you can rely on in spray, sun, and wind, season after season. They're always there when technology isn't.

Common Questions

Why cards instead of an app?
At the helm you're wet, moving, and often one-handed — the last thing you want is to unlock a phone and hunt through menus. A card is instant, glare-free, and can't die, freeze, or fall overboard into a $1,000 mistake.
Do I need cell signal or WiFi to use them?
No. Helm Cards work everywhere, including well offshore or anywhere coverage drops. There's nothing to download, charge, or update.
What are they actually printed on? How durable are they?
They're printed on heavy-duty PVC — fully waterproof and tear-resistant, not laminated paper. They handle spray, sun, and wind season after season, and you can wipe them clean.
Do I need to buy all 9 decks, or can I start with one?
Start with one. Most boaters begin with the deck that matches what they find most stressful — usually Docking or Anchoring — and add others over time. Every deck is the same price and works on its own.
How do they attach or store at the helm?
Each deck is compact enough to live in a helm pocket, glove box, or chart drawer, and the cards are ringed so they stay together and fan open one-handed. Many boaters clip the ring to a hook or grab rail within arm's reach of the wheel.
“This is something every new boater should have on board.”
